Privacy notice

Wander Travel Agency (Pty) Ltd (registration 2024/188994/07, “Wander”, “we”) is the responsible party for personal information collected through this website and our enquiry channels. We process personal information in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA).

What we collect

• Contact details: name, email address, phone or WhatsApp number, preferred contact method.
• Trip details: destinations, dates, number and ages of travellers (adults, children, infants), preferences and any notes you choose to share.
• Booking information (only once you accept a quote): traveller names as on passports, dates of birth, passport details where a supplier requires them, and payment records.
• Technical information: a one-way hashed version of your IP address, used only to prevent spam and abuse of our forms.

Please don't include health, religious or other special personal information in enquiry forms. If such information is needed (for example, assistance or dietary needs), share only what is necessary and we will use it only for that purpose.

Why we use it

• To respond to your enquiry and prepare quotations (this is the reason you give it to us).
• To make and manage bookings with airlines, accommodation providers, transport operators and other suppliers once you ask us to.
• To keep business, accounting and tax records we are legally required to keep.
• To send travel ideas and offers only if you opted in. You can opt out at any time.

Who we share it with

• Travel suppliers needed for your trip, such as airlines, hotels, car-hire and transfer companies, cruise lines, insurers and visa service centres. Many are based outside South Africa.
• Service providers (operators) that host our website and enquiry database and deliver our emails. At launch these are: Supabase (database and server functions), an email delivery provider, and our website host. Confirm the final list and their data locations.
• Authorities, where the law requires it.

We do not sell personal information.

Transfers outside South Africa

Some of our service providers and travel suppliers store or process information outside South Africa. We use providers that are bound by data-protection laws or agreements that offer protection substantially similar to POPIA, or we transfer information because it is necessary to arrange the travel you asked for (POPIA section 72). Confirm hosting regions with each provider.

How we protect it

Enquiry data is stored in a database that only authorised Wander staff can access after signing in. Connections are encrypted (HTTPS). We do not collect card numbers through this website, email or WhatsApp.

How long we keep it

Enquiries that do not become bookings are kept for up to 24 months and then deleted or anonymised. Booking and payment records are kept for as long as tax and accounting laws require (generally five years). Confirm retention periods.

Your rights

You may ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, object to processing, or withdraw consent for marketing. Contact our Information Officer at admin@wandertravelagency.co.za or use the contact form and choose “Privacy / my personal information”. We will respond within a reasonable time and may need to verify your identity first.

If you are unhappy with how we handle your information, you may complain to the Information Regulator (South Africa): inforegulator.org.za.

This website does not use advertising cookies. If we enable Google Analytics, we will update this notice and, where required, ask for your consent first. Confirm before enabling analytics.
